Simplest visual task tracker that still does the job
Trello is the right answer when your team needs visual task management and nothing more. Cards on boards, drag to move stages, light automation via Butler. Most teams outgrow it within a year as needs expand, but for teams transitioning off paper, whiteboards, or unstructured spreadsheets, it is the lowest-friction starting point.
+ Pros: Essentially zero learning curve, generous free tier, simple enough to actually adopt
− Cons: Limited functionality past basic Kanban, weaker reporting and dashboards than competitors, outgrown by most teams within 12 months
